I couldn’t help but think of you…

Updated: Jun 14

If you’ve been following along with the backstory, you might remember I was 2 miles into a no-cell service zone on a property with a 50 foot waterfall.

I will never forget that moment.

I did the whole phone in the air thingy… wishing I had longer arms.

Then I spotted a boulder that looked like It might give me the extra height I needed.

I scrambled up the boulder, pulled out my phone, and sent up a little prayer.

So there I was, standing on a boulder in the middle of a roaring creek and…

I got one bar.

All I needed.

Through a mostly broken-up phone call I managed to convey to Tanner, who was at the zoo with our kids ALSO with minimal cell service, that he needed to call our real estate agents now, really yesterday, and get an offer in.

After I hung up, I stood there and breathed deeply and looked around.

I remember having an overwhelming excitement at the thought of creating space for people to come and visit this land.

I remember thinking – about you– even though Tanner and I probably haven’t met you yet.

I thought about how we could cultivate, and protect, this amazing land to create space for enjoyment, and rest, and margin.

That’s our heart.

We hope that connects with your heartbeat as well.

As I came to from my little daydream and began walking back to the car I couldn’t help but wonder…

… how does a major zoo in the middle of Atlanta not have decent cell service??

The next four hours were torture as I drove back to Atlanta and we waited.

Minutes seemed like hours.

Hours seemed like days.

No word. What could these people possibly be doing for the last 4 hours?

Finally, we got the call we had been waiting for: they had accepted our offer and we were officially under contract.

Now that you know the backstory on the property, in the next few posts, we’re going to change gears and share when, where and why this project is so important to us.

Warmly,

Melissa and Tanner
