The unseen steps between the bigger steps…

Updated: Jun 17

Melissa back again picking up from the story in the last post about Tanner losing and finding a job…

At the same time Tanner got his new job offer,  he happened to randomly meet with his mentor who, while they were chatting, started asking about our side hustle home decor business financials and then remarked: “Tanner, why aren’t you doing THIS full time?”

“Well, I guess, I just never thought about it” Tanner replied. “But also…. it doesn't feel very secure”

Randy raised his eyes and asked, as only a supportive straight shooting mentor can,  “Has corporate life been very secure for you?”

Ouch. Good point.

After a week of seeking wise council, talking and praying about it, we decided to take the leap… and off into full time entrepreneurship Tanner went.

In the months to come, I would often think about how that first part of that word I heard on the highway was quickly confirmed.

But as Tanner always joked “This…” (pointing to his face) “... is not the face of home decor”.

I had to be the face, the visionary, of our home decor e-commerce business.

And so that second part of the word… about Tanner being a McLaren who’s never had an open road… continued to stick with me, haunt me, even.

Little did I know that it was going to be the lynch pin, the catalyst, for an enormous change…

Warmly,

Melissa and Tanner
